West Union Performing Arts
2018-19
West Union High School has a comprehensive performing arts department concentrating on giving the student a well rounded education in the musical arts and developing them into a life-long patron of the arts. The performing ensembles include Concert Band, Concert Choir, Steel Drum Band, Winter Percussion Ensemble, Winter Color Guard, Handbell Choir, and Chamber Choir. The students also perform in small ensembles through the OMEA Solo and Ensemble program and study privately with local teachers. The students are also involved with producing one major musical a year. Technology is a big part of the performing arts department. There is a keyboard lab with 10 stations used for teaching class piano and a 6 station music theory lab for teaching music theory, composition, and sequencing. A showcase for the department is the recording studio featuring recording system with 5 individual rooms. The studio also features a 100w radio station and 10 stations for video production and web page design. A guitar lab was added in 2010.
